Illegal Afghan nationals involved in terrorism, crimes in Pakistan: DG ISPR

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that reliable proofs indicate the involvement of illegal Afghan nationals in terrorism and other serious crimes Pakistan.

In an interview with a German publication, he recalled that Pakistan had sheltered millions of Afghans for forty years, providing refuge during times of conflict.

He explained that Pakistan had repeatedly extended the deadline for their repatriation out of humanitarian concern, but noted that the initial causes—foreign meddling and Afghanistan’s civil war—no longer exist, which is why Islamabad is pressing for their return.

The DG ISPR further said that arms and equipment abandoned after the U.S. pullout from Afghanistan are now being deployed in terrorist attacks across Pakistan, a situation that has also raised alarm in Washington.

In response to a question, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif remarked that the surge in violence there is directly tied to the government’s extremist policies. He accused New Delhi of manipulating narratives by portraying its domestic challenges as external threats while presenting external issues as internal matters.

The DG ISPR said that Pakistan has concrete evidence of Indian state-sponsored terrorism, including direct involvement of serving officers of the Indian army, and has already shared this information with the world community.

On the Kashmir dispute, he called upon the international community to contribute towards a lasting resolution.

He stressed that Pakistan has rejected the use of non-state actors without exception, making clear that no individual or organization outside the state is authorized to declare jihad or operate as an armed faction.

The DG ISPR underlined that Pakistan has borne immense sacrifices as a frontline state in the global struggle against terrorism.

Referring to the most recent confrontation between Pakistan and India, which he termed Marka-e-Haq, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif noted that US President Donald Trump assumed a decisive leadership role, while also pointing out that the United States has listed the proscribed Majid Brigade as a global terrorist entity.

In response to another question, the DG said Pakistan has constructive and strategic relations with its brotherly country China.

He said that several terrorists killed in Balochistan were included in the list of so-called missing persons.
