Wana (Web Desk): Member of National Assembly (MNA) and Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leaded Ali Wazir been arrested again, months after his release in a sedition case.
According to media reports, the PTM leader was detained in North Waziristan.
It is not yet clear on what charges he has been arrested.
The development comes days after the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime circle summoned Wazir and Manzoor Pashteen over mutiny charges for their social posts.
In its notice, the FIA summoned Wazir, Pashteen and three others to its Peshawar office on June 23.
Meanwhile, MNA Mohsin Dawar has sought a “comprehensive inquiry” into the “abduction” of fellow lawmaker Ali Wazir, who he said was arrested by authorities in North Waziristan on Monday and taken to an “undisclosed location”.
Dawar raised these concerns during a National Assembly session chaired by Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.
“Speaker sahib, early morning today, we received information that our MNA Ali Wazir was arrested near a checkpost in North Waziristan,” Dawar said, claiming that “there is no clue regarding his whereabouts”.
Ali Wazir, who was elected MNA from South Waziristan, was released from Central Jail Karachi on February 14 this year after a detention of more than two years.
He had been behind bars since December 2020 when he was booked for allegedly delivering provocative speeches inciting hate against the state institutions.
The PDM leader was arrested from Peshawar and shifted to Karachi.
Ali Wazir, along with some other PTM leaders, was booked in four identical cases registered at Sohrab Goth, Shah Latif Town and Boat Basin police stations under sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) pertaining to the said charges.
