President, PM reassure moral, political support to Kashmiris on Accession to Pakistan Day

Islamabad (Web Desk): On the occasion of Kashmir Accession Day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

In their messages, the president and the premier emphasized Pakistan’s firm commitment to continue extending diplomatic, political, and moral support to the Kashmiri people in their just struggle for the right to self-determination.

President Asif Ali Zardari, on Saturday, honoured the steadfast determination of the Kashmiri people as the nation observed ‘Accession to Pakistan Day’. The occasion marks the adoption of a historic resolution on July 19, 1947, in which the people of Kashmir voiced their aspiration to join Pakistan.

In his official message, the president recalled that on July 19, 1947, the courageous people of Kashmir passed a significant resolution in favour of uniting with Pakistan.

“Accession to Pakistan Day is a shining symbol of the collective will of the Kashmiri people and their natural and eternal bond with Pakistan,” the President Secretariat Press Wing quoted him as saying in a press release.

President Zardari commended the ongoing efforts of the Kashmiri population in their pursuit of self-determination, despite enduring decades of oppression under Indian rule.

He remarked that in the face of continued Indian brutality and suppression, the Kashmiri people have upheld their legitimate struggle with admirable perseverance and bravery, noting that their sacrifices have come to represent a global emblem of resistance, freedom, and martyrdom.

Reiterating Pakistan’s firm position on the matter, the president assured that the country would maintain its strong moral, political, and diplomatic backing for the Kashmiri cause until the people are granted their right to self-determination, in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Expressing unwavering faith in the cause, he affirmed that the Kashmiri people’s struggle would not be in vain, and that one day, they would achieve liberation from what he described as Indian illegal occupation.

Marking Accession to Pakistan Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif affirmed that Pakistan will maintain its diplomatic, moral, and political backing for the Kashmiri people.

“A peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions is the only guarantee of the rights of the Kashmiris and peace in the region.”

PM Shehbaz said that this day is observed annually to honour the Srinagar session of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference held on July 19, 1947, during which the courageous Kashmiri people passed a resolution to accede Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan.

He also noted that “with the passage of time, the spirit of freedom of Kashmiris has increased,” adding that the current generation remains as resolute as their predecessors in seeking their right to self-determination.

The prime minister described the decades-long resistance by Kashmiris against illegal occupation as a reflection of their patriotism and genuine desire for freedom.

Meanwhile, Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam has also reiterated Pakistan’s firm support for the Kashmiri people’s lawful struggle for self-determination and their historic choice to join Pakistan.

In his message, he highlighted that “on this day in 1947 the Kashmiris through a unanimous resolution decided to join Pakistan based on religious, cultural, and geographical affinities.”

Muqam emphasized that Pakistan continues to uphold its principled position advocating a peaceful settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in line with the UN resolutions.
