Lahore (Web Desk): Quetta Gladiators defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 16 in the second match of the 9th edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL-9) in Lahore on Sunday.
Batting first Quetta Gladiators scored 206 for the loss of 5 wickets in allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Peshawar Zalmi scored 190 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.
Saud Shakeel of Quetta Gladiators, who scored 74 runs on just 47 balls, was declared player of the match.
Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and decided to field first against Quetta Gladiators.
Gladiator’s Jason Roy and Saud Shakeel started aggressively and scored half-centuries to remain the top scorers.
Saud Shakeel was caught by Babar Azam off Luke Wood on 74 runs while Jason Roy was out on 75 runs by Saim Ayub caught by Salman Arshad.
Captain Riley Russo scored 14 runs, Sherfin Rutherford scored 20 runs, Muhammad Wasim scored 4 runs while Khawaja Nafe remained unbeaten scoring 6 runs. Zalmi's Salman Arshad dismissed 3 players while Luke Wood and Mohammad Zeeshan took one wicket each.
Chasing a challenging 207 runs target for victory, Peshawar Zalmi fell short by 16 runs despite a good 91-run opening partnership between top scorer Babar Azam (68) and Saim Ayub (42).
Abrar Ahmed bagged two wickets while Mohammad Amir, Waseen Junior and Akeal Hosein took one wicket each.
