Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan’s only Oscar-winning documentary director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy received another the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award.
Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy achieved another milestone as she won the award for her award-winning documentary titled “A Girl In The River: The Price of Forgiveness”.
The duPont-Columbia award is considered to be the Pulitzer prize of broadcasting while this is her second Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award. She grabbed the award earlier in 2010 for her documentary named Children of the Taliban.
The documentary tells the story of a teenage girl who escapes an honour killing bid.
It had won the award in Best Documentary Short category in the 2015 Academy Awards.
The awards will be given to the winners on January 25, 2017 at the awards’ 75th anniversary celebrations at Low Memorial Library.
