Renowned Urdu writer Imtiaz Ali Taj remembered on death anniversary

Lahore (Web Desk): The 55th death anniversary of renowned Urdu writer Syed Imtiaz Ali Taj was observed on Saturday.

Born in Lahore in October 1900, he was son of Syed Mumtaz Ali, a distinguished literary figure honoured with the title 'Shams-ul-Ulema' for his groundbreaking contributions to Urdu drama.

Imtiaz Ali Taj made his mark in various forms of writing, including short stories, novels, radio plays, and film scripts.

He was also a familiar voice on Radio Pakistan, where he hosted the daily segment Pakistan Hamara Hai and was associated with several popular radio programs over the years.

A key figure in shaping modern Urdu literature, Taj’s influence extended beyond the written word into the realms of broadcasting and cinema.

Imtiaz Ali Taj was murdered while asleep in his bed by unknown assassins on this day in 1970.
