PSL 10: Peshawar Zalmi set 228-run target for Multan Sultans

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Peshawar Zalmi set a target of 228 runs in the 9th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

After winning the toss, Zalmi opted to bat first. However, the decision initially seemed to backfire as they lost skipper Babar Azam and explosive opener Saim Ayub with just 5 runs on the board, thanks to sharp bowling by the Sultans.

But a brisk 73-run stand between Mohammad Haris and Tom Kohler-Cadmore revived the innings. Haris smashed 45 off 21 balls, while Cadmore contributed a quick 52 off 30 deliveries.

Hussain Talat added a steady 37 runs, but it was the late onslaught by Abdul Samad (40 off 14) and Mitchell Owen (34 off 15) that powered Peshawar to an imposing total of 227/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Zalmi’s batters collectively smashed 16 sixes in the innings.

For Multan Sultans, David Willey, Michael Bracewell, and Ubaid Shah took two wickets each, while Iftikhar Ahmed picked up one.

At the toss: Zalmi skipper Babar Azam said, “Our goal is to post a total above 200, and we’re hoping for a different performance today.”Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan stated, “We also wanted to bat first. We aim to find our balance and play better cricket going forward.”
