COVID-19: Pakistan reports less than 1,000 cases for third straight day

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,265,047 on Monday after 663 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 465,819 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 437,974 in Punjab, 176,886 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 33,128 in Balochistan, 106,469 in Islamabad 10,369 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 34,402 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 39, 902 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 1.66%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 28,280 with 11 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,210,897 after another 1,019 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the NCOC on Sunday stated that COVID-19 vaccines are completely safe and can be administered to children.

In a tweet, the NCOC said that a fake video was circulating on social media regarding adverse effects of Covid Vaccination on school children.

“The video clip is 3 years old. Covid Vaccines are completely safe and can be administered to children as per MoH guidelines,” the statement said.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 241.496 million and death toll tops 4,914,485.
