Field Marshal Asim Munir to meet US President Donald Trump today 

Washington (Web Desk): Field Marshal Asim Munir will meet President Donald Trump at the White House on Wednesday.

According to public schedule released by the White House, the US president is set to hold a closed-door meeting in the Cabinet Room at 10 PM Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

While the meeting appears on the president’s official agenda, no members of the press will be allowed to attend, as indicated in the public schedule released by the White House.

Field Marshal Asim’s trip comes shortly after heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, following a recent aerial confrontation that escalated concerns in the region.

The COAS undertaking a five-day diplomatic mission aimed at bolstering bilateral ties and addressing regional challenges.

While addressing the Pakistani American community at an event in Washington, Munir took a firm stance against what he described as India’s ambitions of regional dominance.

Urging a more constructive and peaceful approach, he appealed to New Delhi to engage like a "civilised nation."

He also firmly denied accusations from India that linked Pakistan to the attack in Pahalgam, calling such claims a fabricated excuse for launching cross-border military actions. "We would rather embrace martyrdom than accept this dishonour," he declared to loud applause.

The gathering, hosted at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown, drew an enthusiastic crowd from the Pakistani diaspora.

Attendees welcomed Munir with rose petals and nationalist chants, displaying fervent support. Outside the venue, however, demonstrators affiliated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged protests, demanding democratic reforms and calling for the release of imprisoned political leaders.

In a broader geopolitical context, the COAS Munir also expressed solidarity with Iran amid its ongoing conflict with Israel.

While offering support to Tehran, he simultaneously endorsed Washington’s efforts to reduce hostilities, stating, “We want this war to end immediately.”

Earlier, Michael Kurilla, who heads US Central Command (Centcom), praised Pakistan’s role in counterterrorism operations, particularly its cooperation in dismantling the Islamic State's Khorasan branch (Daesh-K).

Speaking to American lawmakers, Kurilla emphasized that Pakistani forces, supported by US intelligence, had successfully neutralized several Daesh-K fighters and detained top operatives. 
Among those captured was Mohammad Sharifullah, linked to the 2021 bombing at Kabul airport that killed 13 American service members.

According to Kurilla, Munir had personally contacted him after the arrest, stating, “I’ve caught him — ready to extradite him back to the US.” The militant was later transferred into American custody.

Kurilla also lauded Pakistan’s ongoing efforts along the Afghan frontier, underscoring the country’s continuing significance in the broader counterterrorism landscape.

Despite having endured over a thousand terrorist attacks in the past year alone, he reiterated that Pakistan “has been a phenomenal partner in the counterterrorism world.”

In his remarks to the diaspora, Field Marshal Asim Munir also extended appreciation to overseas Pakistanis for their economic impact, brushing aside concerns over the nation’s brain drain, and focusing instead on their positive contributions abroad.
