Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed that embracing digital infrastructure and advancing the digitisation of various sectors could be pivotal in attracting foreign investment to Pakistan.

He believes that by focusing on digital initiatives and enhancing the export of digital services, the country can create a more appealing environment for investors.

The prime minister welcomed Pakistan's participation in the Digital Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Initiative, a collaborative effort by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO).

“Pakistan is the first country to join this programme, which aims to stimulate growth in the digital sector and strengthen economic development through foreign investment,” PM Shehbaz said.

PM Shehbaz pointed out that this initiative focuses on building robust digital infrastructure, fostering the digital economy, and promoting the export of digital services, all of which he believes will be instrumental in driving economic progress.

He also noted that such efforts are aligned with Pakistan’s broader vision for sustainable development and economic prosperity.

By adopting these measures, PM Shehbaz believes that Pakistan is positioning itself as a forward-thinking nation, ready to embrace the digital future and create a more conducive environment for foreign investment.
