President Zardari, PM Shehbaz felicitate nation on advent of Ramazan

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday felicitated the nation and Muslims worldwide on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

In his message, the president extended warm felicitations to the people of Pakistan as well as Muslims around the world, describing the sacred month as a season of divine mercy, forgiveness and redemption.

In his message to the nation, he said Ramazan offers a precious opportunity for introspection and personal transformation, urging believers to renew their faith and embrace patience, sacrifice and a stronger bond with Allah.

President Zardari stressed that fasting is far more than abstaining from food and drink; it serves as a comprehensive spiritual exercise that refines character, strengthens self-discipline and reinforces a sense of moral responsibility.

Citing a verse from Surah Al-Baqarah, the president recalled that fasting was made obligatory for the faithful so that they might attain piety. He added that the holy month reminds individuals of enduring values such as patience, gratitude, forgiveness and compassion for those who are less fortunate and in need.

President Zardari noted that Ramazan inspires Muslims to deepen their connection with the Holy Quran, remain devoted to prayers, engage in supplication and the remembrance of Allah, and cultivate unity, tolerance and harmony within society.

The month, he said, also awakens a collective conscience aimed at removing injustices and inequalities from the social fabric.

Calling upon the nation to fully benefit from the blessings of Ramazan, he encouraged citizens to practice honesty, truthfulness, justice and service to humanity in their daily conduct.

The president emphasized the importance of solidarity and a shared sense of responsibility to ensure the country’s stability, progress and prosperity.

He observed that as Pakistan grapples with various social and economic challenges, Ramazan carries a powerful message of hope, resilience and togetherness.

The president expressed the determination that the nation should rise above personal considerations and give precedence to national interest and collective welfare.

President Zardari prayed that Allah Almighty grant the people the wisdom and strength to uphold the true essence of Ramazan, to bless Pakistan with peace, stability and development, and to accept the prayers and good deeds offered during this sacred month. “Pakistan Zindabad,” he said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed his sincere greetings and good wishes to the people of Pakistan and the global Muslim community on the arrival of the blessed and spiritually uplifting month.

In his message for Ramazan 1447 Hijra, he described the month as a profound gift from Allah, giving Muslims the opportunity to refresh their commitment to devotion, humility in worship, righteousness, piety and inner cleansing.

He observed that Ramadan reminds individuals and society alike that true worship goes beyond rituals, calling for self-improvement, stronger moral character, compassion for others, shared sacrifice and the fulfillment of social duties and the rights owed to fellow human beings.

“Fasting is not merely the observance of a religious obligation; rather, it is practical training in patience, discipline and a sense of responsibility in our daily lives,” the prime minister was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the PM Office Media Wing.

PM Shehbaz emphasized that as a nation, Ramadan carries a collective message of goodwill and unity, especially urging attention to the welfare and well-being of the less privileged segments of society.

The prime minister further stated that the government had introduced a Ramazan Package aimed at providing the greatest possible relief to vulnerable groups.

Under this program, financial support would be transferred to deserving individuals through digital wallets in a respectful manner, enabling families to partake in the blessings of Sehri and Iftar during the holy month.

The premier prayed the Almighty Allah to grant the nation the strength to follow the teachings of the Holy Quran, uphold the Uswa-e-Hasana and fully benefit from the spiritual discipline of the sacred month.

He also prayed that Allah accept the individual and collective acts of worship and good deeds, and bless Pakistan with lasting peace, stability, development and prosperity.
