Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari praised Pakistan’s farming community and called for meaningful actions to protect their interests, introduce advanced farming practices, and strengthen farmers’ links with markets across the country.

In a statement on Farmers Day, he underscored that goals such as food security, sustainable development, and overall economic well-being cannot be realized unless the agricultural sector is made stronger and more efficient.

The president described farmers as the mainstay of the national economy, highlighting their central role in ensuring food sufficiency and driving development in rural areas.

Sharing a personal perspective, he said his family’s long association with agriculture has given him firsthand insight into the tireless efforts, accomplishments, and difficulties faced by farmers. He added that agriculture provides livelihoods to millions of Pakistani families and stands as a key pillar of national progress.

President Zardari also drew attention to the pressing challenges confronting the farming sector, including water shortages, the impacts of climate change, and the steadily increasing cost of agricultural inputs.
