Ashura observed to pay homage to Imam Hussain, other martyrs of Karbala

Lahore/Islamabad/Karachi: Youm-e-Ashur, the tenth of Moharram-ul-Haram, is being observed today (Wednesday) across the country with due solemnity to pay homage to the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions in Karbala.  

In this connection, mourning processions are being taken out in all cities and towns of the country.    

In Lahore, main procession began from Nisar Haveli in the Mohalla Chillah Bibian in the morning and culminate at the Karbala Ghamay Shah Imambargah.

The Lahore Traffic Police said six circle officers, 210 senior traffic wardens, 140 patrolling officers and over 1,000 wardens have been appointed for duties.

In Karachi, the main procession departed from Nishtar Park and conclude by reaching Hussainiya Iraniyan Imam Bargah through its traditional fixed routes.

For security reasons, MA Jinnah Road will remain closed from Guru Mandir to Tower.

About 12 processions being held in Peshawar with the first one starting from Imam Bargah Syed Ali Shah Rizvi at 11am.

Keeping in view the security situation in the city, around 14,000 police officers have been deployed while bomb disposal unit personnel are present to clear the passageways of the procession.

The main procession of Ashura in Islamabad started from Imambargah Colonel Maqbool and end at Imambargah Qadeemi through the designated routes.

The Ashura procession started from Alamdar Road in Quetta at around 9am while phone services have been suspended.
