PM Shehbaz meets Emir of Qatar, reaffirms Pakistan’s unwavering support for Doha

Doha (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the sidelines of the Emergency Arab–Islamic Summit in Doha, where he assured Pakistan’s unwavering support for Qatar during this critical time.

He described the Israeli attack of September 9 as an open violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and a serious breach of international law.

During the cordial interaction on Monday, the prime minister once again condemned the Israeli strike on a residential neighborhood in Doha, which resulted in several casualties and left many others injured.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, along with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, were also present during the meeting.

Recalling his visit to Doha the previous week, PM Shehbaz highlighted the longstanding and brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Qatar, stressing that these ties are historic and enduring and will continue to strengthen further.

He called for an immediate end to Israel’s aggression in the Middle East and underlined the need for unity among Muslim countries in the face of repeated provocations.

PM Shehbaz also praised Qatar for taking the initiative to convene the Emergency Arab–Islamic Summit at this decisive moment.

The prime minister noted that, at Qatar’s request, Pakistan had urged an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to deliberate on the worsening situation in the Middle East.

The Emir of Qatar appreciated Shehbaz Sharif’s participation in the summit as well as his visit to Doha on September 12 to express solidarity. Both sides agreed to remain in close contact as the regional developments continue to unfold.
