Gujranwala (Web Desk): Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an alliance of the major opposition parties, will hold public gathering in Gujranwala on Friday (today).
According to details, preparations for the public gathering at the Jinnah Stadium have been finalized.
The PDM, which comprises 11 parties including the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party, (PPP) and Jamiat Ulema-e Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), has vowed to oust the ruling Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI)-led government in the centre.
The leaders of all major opposition parties including PDM president and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman PML-N Vice president Maryam Nawaz, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and will participate in today’s public gathering.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman will leave for Gujranwala in a rally from Jamia Ashrafia after Jumma prayers.
PML-N’s vice president Maryam Nawaz is scheduled to leave for Gujranwala from Jati Umra in a caravan while Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will reportedly lead a rally from Lalamusa.
Strict security measures have been taken at the public gathering venue as at least 7,000 policemen and officers will be deployed for security reasons.
Meanwhile, police have also prepared a plan to stop the caravans going to attend the rally as more than 24 entry and exit points to the city will be cordoned off.
On Thursday, the organizers of the PDM rally and the Gujranwala District Administration reached a 28-point agreement.
