Karachi (Agencies): Former Karachi police chief Shahid Hayat passed away in the metropolitan city on Tuesday following a prolonged illness.
Hayat, who was currently serving as joint director general of Intelligence Bureau, was undergoing cancer treatment at a private hospital in Karachi where he breathed his last.
His funeral prayers will be held on Wednesday at the Garden Police headquarters in Karachi, following which his body will be taken to his native town of Dera Ismail Khan for burial.
He is survived by a wife and two daughters.
