Kolkata (Web Desk): South Africa set a target of 213 runs for Australia in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 being played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata of India on Thursday.
Earlier, South Africa won the toss, decided to bat first against Australia in the second semi-final.
South Africa scored 212 runs in 49.4 overs losing all wickets, thanks to a 101-run brilliant innings of David Miller from 116 balls.
The Proteas’ start was disastrous as they lost four wickets in early blow for just 24 runs as skipper Temba Bavuma fell for duck and Quinton de Kock was dismissed for 3 runs.
Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markram were removed for 6 and 10 runs respectively. At this stage, David Miller took the charge and smashed a century to boost the total but no other player could perform well in the match as South Africa were bowled out with two ball spare to play.
