France urges Iran to restore Hormuz navigation

Paris (Web Desk): French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Sunday that he had called on Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to immediately cease all forms of aggression against Middle Eastern nations, whether executed directly or through proxy forces, specifically citing activities in Lebanon and Iraq.

In a post shared on X, Macron underscored that France’s operations were strictly defensive, aimed at protecting its own interests, supporting regional allies, and maintaining freedom of maritime navigation. He stressed that any actions targeting France were unacceptable.

Macron also emphasized the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz for safe navigation, calling for the swift restoration of unobstructed passage through this key waterway.

The French president added that durable peace in the region would require the establishment of a new political and security framework to address international apprehensions about Iran’s nuclear program, its ballistic missile development, and broader regional conduct.

He insisted that such an arrangement must guarantee that Iran never attains nuclear weapon capabilities, as a cornerstone for lasting security and stability.
