PIMEC 2025: PM declares blue economy as Pakistan's 'new economic frontier'

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called upon all stakeholders to unite with the government in its mission to enhance Pakistan’s maritime capabilities.

Addressing the soft launch of the 2nd Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC 2025) in Islamabad, the Prime Minister outlined a vision to transform the country into a leading maritime force in the region.

He emphasized that the blue economy represents a promising new horizon for Pakistan's economic revitalization, with the potential to create wealth, promote trade, support sustainable growth, and uplift the livelihoods of coastal communities.

Stressing the importance of fully leveraging the opportunities offered by the blue economy, he urged all sectors to work together to drive national development and bolster regional connectivity.

Highlighting Pakistan’s strategic advantages, he noted the country’s extensive 1,000-kilometer coastline, three major seaports, and critical location at the intersection of global maritime trade routes.

These features, he said, uniquely position Pakistan to unlock the full potential of its maritime sector.
The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to international peace, regional stability, and the observance of global maritime norms.

He pointed to the recent AMAN naval exercise, which saw the participation of 60 countries, as a powerful testament to the nation’s steadfast commitment to maritime diplomacy and cooperation.

PM Shehbaz commended the Pakistan Navy for its unwavering professionalism, discipline, and operational excellence, noting its consistent performance and critical role in safeguarding the country's maritime interests.
