Islamabad (Web Desk): A District and Sessions Court in Islamabad approved a four-day physical remand for Umar Hayat, the prime suspect in the murder of TikToker Sana Yousuf.
He was brought before the court following his identification by the victim’s mother and aunt.
Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Hafeez ruled that Hayat be placed in police custody for four days and instructed that he undergo a medical examination, with the report to be presented at the upcoming hearing.
The police presented the suspect in court after the identification parade, during which the victim’s mother and paternal aunt confirmed his identity.
Prosecutors had requested a seven-day remand, citing the need to recover the suspect’s mobile phone and the vehicle allegedly used in the crime. However, the court granted only four days.
During the proceedings, Hayat stated he had already turned over his mobile phone to authorities.
He also asked for a medical examination and mentioned that he had not been in contact with his family, leaving him uncertain about hiring legal representation.
The magistrate directed that the medical report be submitted before the next court date and ordered the suspect to be produced again on June 20.
