Sheikhupura (Web Desk): Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar on Monday shared an update on the eyesight of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former premier Imran Khan, saying the medical team monitoring his condition is fully satisfied with the treatment being provided.
Speaking during a lawyers’ event in Ferozewala, Tarar revealed that Khan had undergone another thorough medical check-up.
He explained that one of the former premier’s eyes sees about 70% clearly with the help of corrective lenses, while the other eye enjoys normal 6/6 vision.
Tarar stated that medical teams from PIMS and Al-Shifa International have expressed complete satisfaction with his treatment and provided detailed briefings to opposition leaders and Khan’s personal physicians.
He added that the same team had conducted a thorough medical examination of Khan at Adiala Jail the previous day.
Tarar emphasized that resolving the concerns of lawyers remains a priority for the government, and fostering cooperation between the bar and the bench is essential to ensure the smooth delivery of justice
He also noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the country has begun to see positive outcomes from difficult decisions, with the economy steadily moving in the right direction.
Highlighting the importance of political stability for economic progress, the federal minister stressed that Pakistan is comprised of four units, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
The law minister further reminded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law, warning that the closure of motorways and the GT Road is unconstitutional and that the federal government would take action if the roads remained blocked.
Earlier, a team of specialist doctors from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Al-Shifa International visited Adiala Jail to examine him.
The medical experts expressed satisfaction with his current treatment and confirmed notable progress in his eyesight.
The team spent nearly an hour and a half at the facility, briefing opposition leaders and Imran Khan’s personal physicians on his health condition.
During the visit, the doctors conducted a detailed examination of his eyes, using advanced medical instruments to assess his condition comprehensively.
As per the jail superintendent, the examination was carried out under strict security arrangements and lasted approximately one hour.
Following the assessment, the medical team decided to submit their report to the government.
Sources said that that a five-member team of specialists from various hospitals, including Dr. Rafaq, Dr. Sikandar, Dr. Arif, and others, visited the jail with the necessary medical equipment to carry out the thorough evaluation of Imran Khan’s eyesight.
It is pertinent to mention that Khan’s lawyer, Salman Safdar, informed the Supreme Court that Khan’s vision had deteriorated to about 15 percent. The court has directed that a detailed medical report on his condition be submitted by February 16.
