Islamabad (Web Desk): President Dr Arif Alvi and First Lady Samina Alvi on Monday received shots of COVID-19 vaccine doses.
Speaking on the occasion, Alvi said in the wake of third wave of Covid-19 pandemic, the people should continue wearing face masks, frequent hand washing, and maintaining social distancing.
The president said the vaccine is being administered to senior citizens in Pakistan as per age categories. He said I got myself registered on the Helpline 1166 and got the shots as per my turn. He said the government has introduced an easy and the best mechanism to avoid long queues.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 607,453 on Monday after 2,253 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
Overall 261,411 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 186,659 in Punjab, 76,104 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 19,220 in Balochistan, 48,081 in Islamabad 4,961 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 11,017 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 13,537 with 29 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 571,878 after another 1,307 virus recoveries were reported.
