Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to explore and expand collaboration with Indonesia in all avenues, including economic, strategic, trade sectors, as well as in the field of defense and defense production.
The premier said this during a meeting with Indonesian Defense Minister Lieutenant General (Retd) Syafrie Samsudin in Islamabad.
The meeting underscored the deep-rooted historical, brotherly and friendly bilateral relations between Pakistan and Indonesia.
PM Shehbaz emphasized the enduring nature of the relationship between Pakistan and Indonesia, which he said is built upon shared historical experiences, cultural ties, and religious affinity.
These longstanding connections, he noted, have consistently shaped their mutual support for one another at international platforms.
Referring to his recent interaction with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on the sidelines of the G-8 summit held in Cairo, PM Shehbaz expressed appreciation for the cordial exchange and extended his best regards to President Subianto.
The discussion reflected the traditionally warm and brotherly nature of Pakistan-Indonesia relations, with both sides recognizing the importance of nurturing this multifaceted partnership.
PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan's resolve to pursue joint investment initiatives and expand engagement in areas of shared interest, particularly those promising mutual economic benefit.
They also reviewed progress on current initiatives under the Pakistan-Indonesia Defense Cooperation Agreement and agreed to fast-track implementation of projects that align with both countries’ strategic objectives.
Lieutenant General (Retd) Syafrie Samsudin conveyed greetings from President Subianto to the government and people of Pakistan.
He reaffirmed Indonesia’s interest in further strengthening defense ties and exploring potential opportunities in co-production and technological collaboration in the defense sector.
