Interior Minister Naqvi reviews NPA upgrades, rolls out new benefits for police officers

Islamabad (Web Desk): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday paid a visit to the National Police Academy (NPA), where he took stock of the ongoing refurbishment and modernization work and announced a range of measures aimed at upgrading police training, welfare and professional standards.

During his tour, the minister reviewed the newly improved facilities, including the conference hall, dining area and several training rooms. He also directed Academy Commandant Muhammad Idrees to maintain both speed and quality in completing the remaining development work.

While interacting with Assistant Superintendents of Police undergoing training, Naqvi announced that those who successfully complete their course will be granted residential plots. He further said that the current batch of ASPs will be trained in line with internationally recognised standards.

The interior minister also disclosed that the trainee officers will be sent to Beijing, China, for a one-month specialised training programme to broaden their exposure and sharpen their professional skills.

He added that new training components will be introduced to meet the needs of modern policing and to strengthen practical and operational capabilities.

Naqvi said the government is taking concrete steps to ease the financial difficulties faced by police officers, stressing that efforts are underway to raise their salaries. He added that modern facilities will also be provided to the force through the National Police Foundation.

He assured the officers that long-standing promotion matters within the police department will be settled.

During the visit, Commandant Muhammad Idrees briefed the minister on the academy’s progress and affairs. The Deputy Commandant, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad and other senior officials were also present.
