Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced to stage a 'peaceful' protest across the country on February 17 (Saturday) against the alleged rigging in the February 8 general elections.
Speaking to media persons outside Adiala jail after a meeting with party founder Imran Khan, PTI leader Barrister Gohar Khan announced this.
He said that the PTI has invited the political parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), and others, which believe that the recent elections were rigged, to join them in their protest.
Gohar added that the PTI would record a peaceful protest on Saturday afternoon and requested the public to participate in it.
In response to a question, Barrister Gohar refuted the reports of forming an alliance with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the Centre and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTI-P) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The PTI leader also announced that the party has named Mian Aslam Iqbal as its nominee for the position of the Punjab chief minister.
Gohar added that the PTI has also nominated Salar Khan Kakar as Balochistan CM candidate. He said that Aqibullah has been nominated as candidate for the slot of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly speaker.
The PTI leader said his party would soon make the government.
Earlier on Thursday, the PTI nominated senior leader Omar Ayub Khan as the candidate for prime minister’s slot.
PTI’s leader and former National Assembly (NA) speaker Asad Qaiser stated stated that party’s founder Imran Khan picked Omar’s name as candidate for PM slot.
