Islamabad (Web Desk): Director General (DG) International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi held a meeting with Foreign Minister (FM) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Islamabad on Wednesday and discussed matters of mutual interest.
The Foreign Minister emphasized the use of atomic energy in the areas of health, agriculture, industries and electricity.
The DG IAEA commended Pakistan's nuclear capabilities, the Radio Pakistan reported.
The IAEA chief arrived in Pakistan on two-day visit (Feb 15 - 16) on Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office (FO) on Tuesday, the DG IAEA during his two-day visit, will hold high level meetings and undertake visits to different institutions employing nuclear technology in the fields of health, agriculture, industry and power generation.
"The visit will provide an opportunity to Pakistan and the IAEA to explore avenues for further strengthening their ongoing cooperation in the area of peaceful applications of nuclear technology for the socio-economic development of the country," the FO statement added.
Pakistan is a founding member of the Agency since 1957 and enjoys longstanding and mutually beneficial collaboration with the IAEA.
