PM Shehbaz directs NDMA to ensure maximum relief for flood-affected people

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to utilise all available resources to assist people affected by flooding across the country and ensure that relief reaches those in need without delay.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Media Wing, the premier gave the directions during a meeting with NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, who presented an update on the country’s weather conditions, with particular focus on the flood situation caused by ongoing monsoon rains.

PM Shehbaz stressed the need for strong and continuous coordination between the NDMA, provincial governments and Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs) so that relief efforts could be carried out efficiently in affected areas.

The prime minister also commended the National Emergencies Operations Centre (NEOC) for incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) and other modern technologies into its disaster management and monitoring efforts.

During the briefing, the NDMA chairman outlined the latest developments concerning the monsoon weather and flood conditions.

He also informed the prime minister about relief activities currently being conducted in flood-hit regions and the steps being taken to help affected families return to normal life.

Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik said the NDMA, with the backing of the federal government, would continue its relief operations in flood-affected parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
