City Parade held at Islamabad's D-Chowk to mark Independence Day

Islamabad (Web Desk): A historic City Parade was held at Islamabad’s D-Chowk on Friday to mark Independence Day with great national fervour.

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi were among the prominent guests at the event, which attracted a large number of families and residents.

The parade provided a lively glimpse into Pakistan’s cultural richness and the traditions representing different parts of the country.

The programme included well-coordinated performances by police contingents, colourful presentations by the Jhang dance troupe and energetic displays accompanied by traditional dhol rhythms. Pipe and percussion bands also added to the festive atmosphere with their performances.

A camel band emerged as one of the distinctive attractions for the spectators, while a display of vintage cars and motorcycles brought a nostalgic touch to the celebrations.

The entertainment programme also featured live performances by popular singers Nimra Mehra and Sahir Ali Bagga, along with the Khumariyaan Band, keeping the audience engaged throughout the festivities.

The celebrations came to a dramatic close with a dazzling fireworks show that lit up the sky above Islamabad.

Addressing the gathering, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the City Parade was organised to give people an opportunity to actively participate in Independence Day festivities while celebrating Pakistan’s diverse cultural heritage.

He described Independence Day as a symbol of unity and love for the country, saying the occasion also serves as a reminder for Pakistanis to renew their determination to work collectively for a brighter and more prosperous future.
