PM Shehbaz orders facilitation for public to get fuel subsidy

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to ensure that citizens receive all necessary guidance about the registration process and other requirements for obtaining fuel subsidies under the PM Special Relief Scheme.

He issued these directions while presiding over a review meeting on the special relief programme for motorcycles, rickshaws and cars with engine capacities of up to 800cc in Islamabad on Monday.

The prime minister ordered that the SMS sent for subsidy registration should not carry any charges.
The fuel subsidy programme will begin for Islamabad residents from Monday night, while eligible citizens across the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, will be able to benefit from the petrol relief from the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

PM Shehbaz directed the Chief Commissioner, Inspector General of Islamabad and the local administration to remain available in the field to assist citizens and help them complete the registration process.

He also instructed authorities to engage elected representatives and volunteers nationwide so they could support people with registration and other required procedures.

The prime minister further ordered the launch of a broad public awareness campaign through print, electronic, digital and social media to ensure that people are fully informed about the relief scheme.

The meeting was informed that more than 600,000 SMS messages had been received from the Islamabad region since registration began, with 42,933 applicants having completed their registration successfully.

Officials said applicants only need to provide four basic details to register: their Computerized National Identity Card number, vehicle number plate, province of registration and vehicle registration date.
