PM says pre-1967 Palestine state with Al-Quds capital to remain bedrock of Pakistan's policy

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast stance that the establishment of a sovereign and sustainable Palestinian state, within the pre-1967 boundaries and with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital, remains the foundation of the country’s Middle East policy and will continue to guide its position in the region.

In a post shared on X while en route home from the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, the prime minister emphasized Pakistan’s enduring solidarity with the Palestinian people, declaring, “The Palestinian people’s freedom, dignity and prosperity remain a primary concern for Pakistan. InshaAllah, the establishment of a strong and viable Palestinian state with pre-1967 borders and Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital remains the bedrock of Pakistan’s Middle East policy and will remain so.”

As I board the plane to return home after the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm el Sheikh, I want to share some reflections on the potentially transformational nature of what took place and why Pakistan has been so deeply involved.

Commenting on what he described as the “potentially transformational nature” of the gathering, he underscored that Pakistan’s immediate concern was an end to the “genocidal campaign” being inflicted on Gaza.

He noted that Pakistan had remained fully engaged in the peace process and, along with other brotherly nations, had “stated and reinforced” its priorities throughout.

The prime minister went on to acknowledge Pakistan’s appreciation for former U.S. President Donald Trump, noting that “Pakistan’s gratitude to Trump was anchored in his promise that he would make it stop, and delivering on that promise.”

He added, “We will continue to express our admiration for President Trump’s unique contribution to peace,” announcing that Pakistan had also nominated the U.S. president for the Nobel Peace Prize to honor what he termed as his efforts and “contributions to world peace.”
