Lahore (Staff Report): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday extended the interim bail of former railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Khawaja Salman Rafique.
A two-judge bench headed by Justice Ali Baqir Najafi resumed the hearing and extended the bail till November 26.
Khawaja brothers appeared before the court as the previous extension granted on October 24, expired on Wednesday.
Following the NAB's corruption probe on October 15, LHC had accepted Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leaders’ interim bail till October 24 while they were again granted bail extension till November 14.
Earlier, Islamabad High Court (IHC) had rejected an application requesting for a protective bail for Khawaja Saad Rafique and Salman Rafique.
In November 2017, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) launched its investigation into a mega land scam the involving then Railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique’s Paragon Housing Society in Lahore and Punjab Land Development Company (PLDC).
On Tuesday, Saad Rafique also filed a petition in the Lahore High Court against the conduct of Director General NAB, Shahzad Saleem. The PML-N leader maintained the stance that the official made TV appearances and shared details of the investigation.
