A bomb exploded in a mosque in Lower Waziristan, injuring at least four individuals, including Maulana Abdullah Nadeem, the district leader of Jamiat Ulema-Islam (JUI).
According to police, the explosion took place around 1:45 pm at a mosque in Azam Warsak Bazaar, where an improvised explosive device (IED) was concealed in the mosque’s pulpit.
District Police Officer Asif Bahader said that it is believed that Maulana Nadeem was the main target of the attack, as he suffered serious injuries and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital. Two other people also sustained injuries in the blast.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, though no group has yet claimed responsibility.
Meanwhile, additional security measures have been enhanced in the area to prevent further violence.
