Karachi (Staff Report): Muslims to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday as the moon for the month of Shawwal has not been sighted in Pakistan.
Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee met under the chair of Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman to sight the crescent for the month of Shawwal.
“The Shawwal crescent was not sighted on Thursday evening in Pakistan, therefore, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday,” Mufti Muneeb made the formal announcement.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has already predicted that there are ‘slight’ chances of Shawwal moon sighting on June 14.
Government has announced holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to a notification issued by Interior Ministry, Eid-ul-Fitr holidays will be observed from June 15 to June 18 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday).
