Govt establishes new authority NAFSA to modernise agriculture

Islamabad (Web Desk): The government has launched the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA) with the support of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

This new authority is created by merging the Department of Plant Protection (DPP) and the Animal Quarantine Department, marking a significant advancement for the agricultural sector.

NAFSA aims to implement modern agricultural practices that comply with international standards, which will help enhance the country’s competitiveness in global markets.

One important benefit includes reducing the excessive use of Methyl Bromide, leading to savings of up to Rs40,000 per container.

With SIFC’s assistance, efforts to promote transparency and innovation within agriculture are underway, supporting the sector’s growth and modernization.
