Karachi (Web Desk): A dignified guard-changing ceremony was conducted at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi on Friday as Pakistan observed its 79th Independence Day with national spirit and fervour.
Smartly attired cadets of the Pakistan Naval Academy took over ceremonial guard duties, continuing the traditional Independence Day observance held at the site each year.
The ceremonial guard at Mazar-e-Quaid consists of two groups, with one contingent drawn from Pakistan Navy sailors and the other comprising cadets of the Pakistan Naval Academy.
In keeping with tradition, the academy’s cadets assume responsibility for guarding the mausoleum every August 14.
Rear Admiral Muhammad Umair, Commandant Pakistan Naval Academy, attended the ceremony as chief guest.
He paid tribute to the Father of the Nation by placing a floral wreath at the mausoleum and offering Fateha.
