President Zardari for further expanding of Pakistan-China cooperation

Chengdu, China (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday highlighted the significance of furthering Pakistan-China cooperation in the political, economic and cultural arenas, reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to promote closer people-to-people ties and strengthen public diplomacy.

While meeting in Chengdu with Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau and Secretariat of the Communist Party of China Central Committee as well as Minister of the Publicity Department, both sides reviewed prospects for enhancing bilateral engagement across diverse fields.

According to a statement from the President’s Secretariat Press Wing, the president extended his gratitude to Li for the warm hospitality in Sichuan and congratulated him and the organizers on successfully hosting the Second Golden Panda Awards International Culture Forum.

Li conveyed greetings and good wishes from President Xi Jinping to President Zardari, recalling their interaction during Zardari’s visit in February.

He also commended Zardari’s recent contribution to China Daily, noting the esteem with which Pakistan’s viewpoints are regarded in China.

Li Shulei went on to say that both he and President Xi attach great importance to the role played by President Zardari in further cementing the Pakistan-China bond.

“The world may be changing, but China and Pakistan will remain steadfast brothers. What humanity needs today is the fragrance of books, not the stench of gunpowder,” Li remarked.
