Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Sunday asserted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is not the judiciary’s ‘ladla’.
While, heading a two-member bench, hearing a suo motu case regarding the Bani Gala encroachment, the CJP said that the apex court has not given the PTI chief any concession at any point.
Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry admitted before the court that illegal construction in Bani Gala was regularized by the ministry and not the Supreme Court.
The CJP then said: “Imran Khan is not our ladla (blue-eyed boy). The statements issued in this regard are incorrect. Let’s call [Minister of State for Information] Marriyum Aurangzeb and show her the CADD minister’s statement.”
“I challenge anyone concerned to prove me wrong,” said the top judge.
He questioned that action against encroachment has to be taken by the government and if the government fails to do so what should the judiciary do.
