Lahore (Web Desk): The 22nd death anniversary of renowned Pakistani singer Shahida Parveen was observed on Thursday.

Born in 1952, she began her musical journey at a tender age and swiftly made a name for herself in the world of music.

Her remarkable ability to blend the richness of traditional melodies with the freshness of contemporary sounds elevated her to iconic status in Pakistan’s music scene.

Though she departed from this world in 2003, her voice continues to echo through the hearts of listeners, untouched by time.

Shahida Parveen’s discography, though vast, remains somewhat unquantified, yet certain songs stand as pillars of her artistry.

Tracks such as “Deepak Raag Hae Chahaat Apni”, “Sohney Yaar Bajoon”, and “Wo Dil-E-Nawaz Hae” carry the essence of her versatility, capturing both the sorrow and joy of love with unparalleled grace.

These melodies have etched themselves into the fabric of Pakistan’s musical heritage, carrying her spirit forward into each generation.

Her untimely death in 2003 left a void, yet her legacy was further solidified in 2004 when she was honoured posthumously with the Pride of Performance Award by the President of Pakistan.

This recognition, though years after her passing, speaks to the depth of her influence.

Shahida Parveen was laid to rest in Lahore’s Miani Sahib graveyard, but her melodies remain alive, forever entwined with the soul of Pakistan's cultural landscape.
