Resolution submitted in Punjab Assembly to lower driving license age to 16 years

Lahore (Web Desk): Opposition member in Punjab Assembly, Sheikh Imtiaz Mahmood has tabled a resolution in the house, proposing to lower the minimum age for obtaining a driving license from 18 to 16 years.

The resolution states that the youth population in Pakistan, especially in Punjab, is growing rapidly, and to integrate them into the economy, the legal age for driving should be reduced to 16 years.

The resolution also references international practices, noting that in most provinces of Canada, individuals are allowed to drive at the age of 16, while in Germany, a driving license can be obtained at 17 years of age.

The proposal calls for Pakistan to follow suit and lower the legal driving age to 16 years to better involve the youth in the country's development and economic growth.

This step aims to provide young people with more opportunities to participate in the economy and contribute to the nation’s progress.
