Pakistan's first 'National Padel Championship' wraps up with Huzaima, Huzaifa, Asifa and Shiza winning titles

Lahore (Web Desk): The Pakistan Padel Federation (PPF) has successfully staged the country’s first-ever National Padel Championship, a milestone that marks the formal rise and structured development of the sport in Pakistan.

The four-day tournament, sanctioned by the Pakistan Sports Board, attracted more than 100 players from different parts of the country, reflecting the growing popularity of padel as an emerging racket sport.

The closing ceremony was attended by Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, who participated as the chief guest.

During the event, he praised the efforts of the federation for creating new opportunities for young athletes and encouraging participation in non-traditional sports. He also distributed trophies and cash awards among the top performers.

The event was further attended by several well-known social personalities and senior officials from the sporting community, adding prominence to the occasion.

In the Men’s Open final, Huzaima Abdul Rehman and Huzaifa Abdul Rehman delivered a dominant performance to secure the championship title, defeating Sami Zain Khan and Ahmed Kamil with a convincing score of 6-1, 6-2.

The Women’s Open title was claimed by Asifa Shahbaz and Shiza Sajid, who outplayed Ushna Sohail and Mehak Khokhar to become the national champions in their category.

In the Veterans competition, Muhammad Qasim and Faisal Anwar showcased strong tactical skill and experience, overcoming Muhammad Danish and Faraz Ahsan to lift the inaugural trophy.

The championship carried a total prize pool of Rs 3 million. Winners of the Men’s Open category received Rs500,000, while the runners-up were awarded Rs300,000.

In both the Women’s Open and Veterans categories, the champions earned Rs350,000 each, with the runners-up securing Rs200,000.

Additional cash rewards were also given to semi-finalists and quarter-finalists to further encourage emerging talent.

The successful completion of the tournament, supported by high-level government representation, has been widely appreciated within sporting circles as an important step toward broadening Pakistan’s sports culture and engaging youth in new athletic disciplines.
