Japan appreciates Pakistan's diplomatic role in facilitating US-Iran ceasefire, talks

Islamabad (Web Desk): Japan has lauded Pakistan for its diplomatic contribution in facilitating the ceasefire process and encouraging dialogue between the United States and Iran.

The appreciation was conveyed during a telephone conversation held today between the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and the Prime Minister of Japan, Ms. Sanae Takaichi.

In a cordial and friendly exchange, both leaders reviewed the recently concluded Islamabad Talks, which brought together delegations from the United States and Iran under Pakistan’s facilitation.

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi extended Japan’s support for the ongoing peace efforts, stressing that such initiatives are crucial for maintaining regional stability and ensuring global energy security.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while expressing gratitude for Japan’s positive remarks, said Pakistan deeply values the constructive engagement between the US and Iranian delegations in Islamabad.

He reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at sustaining the ceasefire.

The discussion also reflected a mutual resolve to deepen Pakistan–Japan relations, with both sides agreeing to expand cooperation in various fields.

The two leaders agreed to stay in close coordination moving forward.
