President Zardari in China on 10-day official visit

Chengdu (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Chengdu on Friday, commencing his official trip to China.

At Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, he was greeted warmly by Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong and Vice Governor of Sichuan Province Huang Ruixue.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, along with the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, were also present to receive him.

During the course of his visit, President Zardari will engage with the Chinese leadership and senior officials to further deepen bilateral relations, boost collaboration in various sectors, and push forward common goals under the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office (FO) on Thursday, during his visit, the president will tour Chengdu, Shanghai, and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, where meetings with senior provincial authorities are on his schedule.

The agenda of the visit focuses on enhancing Pakistan-China relations, particularly in trade and economic cooperation, reviewing progress on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and exploring new connectivity projects.

The two countries will also engage in talks aimed at broadening cooperation in various multilateral platforms.

The FO statement added that the visit reflects the continuation of high-level exchanges between Islamabad and Beijing, reaffirming their enduring All-weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

It also underscores mutual support on critical national matters, a shared resolve to strengthen economic links including CPEC, and a collective pledge to advance peace, stability, and development in the region.
