PM Shehbaz, Azerbaijan President Aliyev reaffirm shared commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, held a telephone conversation on Tuesday in which both leaders reaffirmed their resolve to further expand cooperation in a wide range of areas, including trade, investment, energy collaboration, and strengthening ties between their peoples.

According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing, during the conversation, the two leaders expressed satisfaction over the steadily positive momentum in relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

The discussion was conducted in a warm and friendly tone, reflecting the close brotherly relations enjoyed by both nations, while they also exchanged cordial greetings.

PM Shehbaz extended his good wishes to President Aliyev regarding the forthcoming World Urban Forum, which is set to be held next week in Baku.

He expressed confidence that the event, hosted under Azerbaijan’s leadership, would play an important role in advancing global dialogue on urban development and related challenges.

PM Shehbaz also mentioned that due to prior engagements, he would not be able to attend in person, though Pakistan would ensure appropriate representation at the forum.

The two leaders also discussed key regional matters of shared concern, with particular focus on ongoing peace initiatives in the Middle East.

President Aliyev appreciated Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic efforts aimed at facilitating a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, stating that such initiatives demonstrated the international community’s confidence in Pakistan’s leadership and diplomatic role.

The two sides agreed to remain in close and regular contact and expressed their anticipation of meeting face-to-face later in the year.

PM Shehbaz also reiterated his invitation for President Aliyev to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at a time convenient for him.
