PTI founder directs Junaid Akbar to step down as PAC chairman

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan directed party’s Member of National Assembly (MNA) Junaid Akbar Khan to vacate his position as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

According to party sources, the PTI founder’s decision was communicated to senior PTI leadership through his sister, Aleema Khan.

They added that a formal note outlining Khan’s directive was handed over to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Secretary General Salman Akram Raja.

“In the message, the former prime minister directed that Akbar to relinquish the and instead dedicate his focus fully to party affairs, especially considering his key role as PTI’s provincial president for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The party sources added that there is increasing speculation that senior figure Omar Ayub may be appointed to succeed Akbar in the PAC role.

Ayub is viewed as a close ally of the party leadership and a strong candidate to handle the accountability oversight position.

When approached about the potential change, Junaid Akbar said he would abide by any clear instruction from Khan, emphasizing his loyalty and readiness to step down whenever officially asked.

Meanwhile, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja refrained from offering any public response, briefly stating that it was a matter of internal party deliberation and not something he wished to address in the media.
