PM Shehbaz, MQM delegation discuss budget, political situation

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday acknowledged the role of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) as an important partner within the governing alliance, saying the party has contributed meaningfully to efforts aimed at strengthening economic stability, supporting development initiatives, and improving public welfare.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, it was said that during a meeting with an MQM-P delegation, the prime minister underlined the significance of coalition partners in helping the government move forward with its agenda focused on economic stability, development, and service delivery for the public.

The delegation was headed by MQM-P Convener and Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.It also included Federal Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal as well as Members of the National Assembly Farooq Sattar, Aminul Haque, and Javed Hanif.

During the meeting, the prime minister stated that MQM-P has remained a valuable coalition ally and its constructive engagement in national progress and economic stability is appreciated. He added that such cooperation among political partners is expected to continue in the future in the broader interest of the country and its people.

The discussion also covered the federal budget for the financial year 2026–27, where both sides exchanged views on economic planning, priority areas, and measures aimed at providing relief to citizens while maintaining growth momentum.

The participants further reviewed the prevailing political situation in the country and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.

The meeting was also attended by several senior federal ministers, including Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah.
