London-bound Air India passenger plane crashes near Ahmedabad airport

New Delhi (Web Desk): An Air India flight carrying 242 passengers crashed shortly after takeoff near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Thursday.

According to reports, the aircraft, reportedly bound for London, went down in the Meghani Nagar area, a densely populated neighborhood close to the airport. The crash sparked immediate panic among residents, many of whom witnessed thick plumes of smoke rising from the scene.

The smoke was visible from several parts of the city, including as far as Vastrapur, prompting a swift response from emergency services. Fire brigade teams were rushed to the site to control the blaze and begin rescue operations.

The airport, operated by Adani Group, quickly implemented emergency protocols, and authorities sealed all roads leading to the area to facilitate ongoing rescue and recovery efforts.

Preliminary information suggests the aircraft involved may have been a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, although this has not yet been officially confirmed. Investigations into the cause of the crash are underway, but no conclusive details have been released at this stage.
