Iran's Ghalibaf thanks Pakistan for 'Islamabad Talks', says US failed to gain trust 

Islamabad (Web Desk): Speaker of Iran’s Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has praised Pakistan’s constructive and active role in the ongoing diplomatic process, expressing gratitude to both the government and the people of Pakistan.

In a statement following the talks, he noted that Pakistan has played a positive and facilitative role in promoting peace and stability in the region and in advancing the dialogue process, for which Iran deeply appreciates its “friendly and brotherly” neighbour.

The Iranian parliament speaker acknowledged that Islamabad has played a key role in supporting regional affairs and facilitating diplomatic engagement, stressing the importance of long-standing bilateral ties between the two countries. He also extended his best wishes for the prosperity and progress of the Pakistani people.

Later, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament (Majlis) issued a detailed statement on recent negotiations and the country’s defence-related strategy, saying that the Iranian delegation had presented clear, forward-looking, and substantive proposals during the talks. However, he observed that the opposing side had so far failed to earn Iran’s trust.

“America has understood our logic and principles,” he said, adding that it is now up to Washington to decide whether it can build trust with Iran.

He characterised diplomacy as a means of demonstrating national strength alongside military resistance, underlining that Iran will continue its efforts to protect what he described as the outcomes of its recent defence measures.

Referring to internal unity, he said the country’s roughly 90 million citizens remain firmly supportive of the leadership, and praised the public for turning out in large numbers in line with the guidance of Ali Khamenei.

Ghalibaf also commended the Iranian delegation for how it handled what he called the “intense 21-hour negotiations,” concluding his remarks with words of appreciation and encouragement for the team.

Separately, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei expressed appreciation on Sunday to the government and people of Pakistan for their hospitality during the Islamabad Talks, highlighting the cordial atmosphere in which the discussions were held.

According to Tasnim News Agency and other Iranian media outlets at the conclusion of the engagement, Baqaei extended special thanks to Pakistan’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

He further stated that Iran was grateful for the warm reception and conveyed confidence that diplomatic contacts between Iran, Pakistan, and other friendly countries in the region would continue moving forward.
