Earthquake tremors felt in Islamabad, parts of Punjab and KP

Islamabad (Web Desk): A 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck Islamabad, parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), earthquake was recorded at magnitude 5.7 on the Richter's scale and originated it at 12:28pm Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

The Met Office added that earthquake’s epicentre was Shadi wala area of Dera Ghazi (DG) Khan in the southwestern part of Punjab while its depth was 10km.

The Punjab cities where earthquake tremors were felt included Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Kamalia, Khanewal, Bhalwal, Chiniot, Hafizabad, Toba Tek Singh, Gujarat, Sargodha and Jhang.

In KP, the earthquake jolted several cities including Peshawar, Swat, North Waziristan, DI Khan, Lucky Marwat, Buner, Shangla and Chitral among others.

Today's tremors come nearly two weeks after a 5.4 magnitude earthquake jolted parts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi and KP on August 29.
