Islamabad (Web Desk): At least 12 people were martyred and several others injured in a suicide blast near the G-11 sector court of the federal capital on Tuesday.
The explosion occurred around 12:30 PM, targeting a parked vehicle, and was reportedly so powerful that the blast was heard from a considerable distance.
The force of the explosion set the vehicle on fire, engulfing nearby parked cars as well. Among the injured were both lawyers and civilians, all of whom were swiftly transported to PIMS Hospital for emergency treatment.
Authorities confirmed that the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber, with the attacker’s head recovered from the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest possible involvement of an Indian-sponsored group and an Afghan Taliban proxy, identified as “Fitna al-Khawarij.”
The security sources said that a large number of people were present in the court area at the time of the attack, which contributed to civilian casualties.
Police and security forces quickly cordoned off the area, and efforts are ongoing to assess the full scope of the blast.
Medical teams continue to provide urgent care to the wounded, while authorities conduct a thorough investigation to determine the perpetrators and the circumstances surrounding the attack.
