DPM Dar reaffirms govt's commitment to ensuring uninterrupted sugar supply

Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday reaffirmed the government's commitment to keep sugar readily available across the country while ensuring it remains affordable for consumers.

While chairing a high-level meeting convened to evaluate sugar supplies and monitor market prices, Dar underscored that the government would take uncompromising action against hoarding, speculative practices, and any deliberate attempts to manipulate prices through artificial shortages.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson, officials from the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, together with representatives of provincial food departments, presented a detailed briefing on existing sugar reserves, anticipated production figures, and prevailing market price patterns.

The meeting was attended by Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, the Secretary of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, a Member of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), along with senior officials representing both the federal and provincial governments.

After a thorough review of the data presented on provincial and national sugar reserves, the committee expressed satisfaction over the overall availability and supply position.
